Getting Adjusted
It's 6:00 a.m. on August 10th and I have been awake since about 4:30 a.m.. It is going to take some time to get through this jet lag. Today we will join the other new staff at orientation. We missed the first day because we were sleeping so we will probably be a little behind on some stuff. We do however have the advantage of being former students at D.A..
Yesterday we walked over to the school and just happened to run into a missionary we knew. She immediately offered us lunch and we accepted. Michelle and I shared a bowl of Poulet Yassa which a typical Senegalese dish made with rice, onions, and chicken. It was absolutely delicious. We then toured the school for a while and got caught up on a few things we missed at the first day of new staff orientation. The school grounds have changed quite a bit. There a few new buildings and some additions to old buildings. It is really strange being here as part of the staff after having been students.
One great thing that happened yesterday as we were walking around the grounds of the school was that we ran into several Senegalese workers who were here when we students. They all remembered us there was much hugging and shaking of hands. I am excited to get to know them all again continue to grow our friendship.
